General FAQs
Cannabidiol (CBD) is derived from hemp plants and interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system, a group of receptors that take it in and contain enzymes to break it down. After the enzymes break CBD down, it is then synthesized and sent throughout the whole body to various biological and cognitive processes.
Hemp, or industrial hemp, is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant species explicitly grown for industrial use. It can be used to make a wide range of products. Along with bamboo, hemp is one of the fastest-growing plants on Earth. CBD is extracted from Hemp plants.
Although CBD and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) comes from the Cannabis Sativa plant and are the most prominent cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, they are not the same. They have different chemical compositions which causes the body’s endocannabinoid system to receive and process them differently. Whereas THC can have psychoactive effects, CBD does not act in this way.
In addition, CBD and THC are derived from different strains of the Cannabis Sativa Plant. While both technically part of the Cannabis Sativa species, hemp and marijuana plants are actually two different strains of the plant species. While both marijuana and hemp plants produce CBD and THC, marijuana cannabis plants have a higher concentration of THC, and hemp has a higher concentration of CBD. CBD comes from the whole plant in varieties grown to have a low level of THC (less than 0.3% dry weight). In contrast, THC is pulled primarily from the flowers of plants bread to have higher levels of the compound ranging from 5-35%.
A common misconception is that CBD will give you similar psychoactive feelings as marijuana; however, this is in fact, false. Considering CBD is a “non-psychoactive” compound and only contains 0.3% or less contents of THC, you will not experience the same euphoric or sedated feelings associated with marijuana.
The primary sensation of CBD that many people report feeling is relaxation. Unlike THC, CBD binds very weakly to CB1 receptors in the brain which is why you should not feel similar euphoric feelings associated with THC. The interaction of CB1 receptors is believed to release neurotransmitters to your brain, responsible for regulating and balancing many processes in the body, including immune response, communication between cells, metabolism, memory, and more. CBD has been said to reduce pain within the body and provide users with a less anxious feeling after consumption.
Due to the different levels of THC, CBD and marijuana are regulated differently under the law. It’s all based on where CBD is derived from. If the CBD comes from the Hemp plant varieties containing less than 0.3% THC, it is legal. But if CBD is derived from the Marijuana plant, it is considered illegal due to the THC levels produced. All Sacred Essentials™ products are made from Hemp and tested to contain minimal and in many cases no discernable amount of THC, well below the 0.3% legal limit.
Health benefits related to CBD are still being tested daily; however, the most common benefits that users of CBD say they experience are anti-inflammatory, reducing anxiety and helping provide relaxation for those that experience insomnia. Currently, the FDA has approved one CBD-based drug, Epidiolex, to treat several severe forms of childhood epilepsy.
CBD can be taken in various forms, from topical use to oral consumption. Most oral CBD products consist of pills and tinctures while topical options come in balms, lotions, and more. It is said that topical application of CBD is more effective in relieving inflammation or pain in one area.
There are many places to purchase CBD, whether you decide to order online, visit your local dispensary, or purchase directly from a CBD producer. You can find a wide range of Sacred Essentials™ products online, to place your next order.
Although there is no legal age restriction on CBD products, most places you purchase CBD will require an ID. As we mentioned before, CBD has not been shown to be harmful if taken in proper amounts and, in some cases, can be prescribed by a doctor regardless of age. It would be best to consult with a physician before deciding to use CBD as an alternative for those under 18.
For products taken orally, an effective dosage can range from as little as a 5mg of CBD per day up to 1500mg per day. Make sure to start low and go slow. Take a few small doses over the course of the day rather than one big dose. Use the same dose for several days. Observe the effects and if necessary, adjust the amount. Don’t overdo it.
Unlike THC, CBD side effects are well tolerated and vary based on use. Possible side effect are:
• Dry mouth
• Diarrhea
• Fatigue
We use full-spectrum CBD oil to take advantage of the potential “entourage effect” of CBD and the other components in the Hemp plant. In fact, the Cannabis Sativa plant contains multiple types of compounds that may have benefits to users. These include cannabinoids, of which there are over 100 different compounds including CBD and THC. The hemp plant also contains over 100 different terpenes that help create the plant’s fragrance and can have other potential therapeutic benefits. Finally, the plant contains over a dozen flavonoids that are also being studied for their potential therapeutic effects. You can read more about the different types of CBD in this article: Full Spectrum or CBD Isolate – Blog.
We get our CBD oil only from US sources using extraction processes designed to ensure the highest purity and quality. Our extraction partner knows every grower personally so that they can have a hand in the growth of the hemp all the way through extraction. We use the CO2 extraction process for our full-spectrum CBD. This solvent-free process is known for being the cleanest, safest method of acquiring CBD oil from hemp. Our extraction partner is also fully cGMP certified for food grade production. All our CBD is tested for potency, pesticides, heavy metals and microbials before and after extraction.
We use third party laboratories to verify the components of our finished product formulas, including the full spectrum CBD content that we claim for each product. We also test to ensure that there is minimal or no detectable THC content, certainly well below the .3% legal standard. We also obtain supplier certifications for every batch of CBD incorporated in our products. You can find copies of our test results within each of the detailed product listings on this website.

Sacred Essentials™ CBD Wellness Tinctures
Start with 3-6 drops sublingually (under the tongue), hold for at least 10 and ideally 30 seconds and then swallow. Increase drops daily to reach the full dropper dose or a level where you see the most benefits. Use as needed.
Using sublingually allows the tincture to absorb efficiently into the bloodstream without first having to be digested. It is best to hold the tincture under your tongue ideally for 30 seconds before swallowing.
Tinctures can also be added to a favorite beverage or added to food.
Tinctures may be used multiple times of day depending on your needs. We do recommend that you use our Nighttime Tincture about 30 minutes before bedtime.
As a fat-soluble compound, CBD is known to be best absorbed when taken with another healthy fat. MCT (medium chain triglyceride) oil, which is derived from coconut or palm oil, is a healthy fat that is converted into energy by the body.
When starting to incorporate CBD Tinctures use a few drops and increase through the week to reach a full dropper dose or the dose level where you see the most benefits. Microdose if needed during the day.
